A WESTERN RITE PARISH OF THE RUSSIAN ORTHODOX CHURCH OUTSIDE RUSSIA

About Our Church
We are a canonical Orthodox Church under the omophorion of His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion first Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia. (ROCOR) In 2007 ROCOR or the Russian Church in Exile as it was sometimes known signed the Act of Canonical Communion with the Moscow Patriarchate.
This reunion followed 80 years of separation when dozens of bishops and thousands of Orthodox Christians had to flee Russia and the horrific persecution that followed the communist revolution
ROCOR today is a semi-autonomous part of the Moscow Patriarchate which consists of well over one hundred million Orthodox Christians. Nearly 40% of the almost 300 million Orthodox Christians in the world are under the Moscow Patriarch. By comparison the Greek Ecumenical Patriarch which is located in modern day Turkey has only about 180 thousand communicants.
Saints Peter and Paul uses the ancient and venerable western Pre-schism liturgy of Pope Gregory the Great for Holy Mass. The vast majority of Orthodox Christians use Eastern Rites in their worship including a far greater number of ROCOR parishes. We who constitute the Western Rite Communities with the blessing of Metropolitan Hilarion have been authorized to use the noble and beautiful Rites of the ancient Western Church.
